Niagara Geopark Inc.

Thank You to CBC Niagara and The St. Catharines Standard

Niagara Geopark extends a sincere thank you to CBC Niagara and The St. Catharines Standard (paywall) for their coverage of the Niagara Indigenous Trail Sign unveiling at The Brown Homestead in St. Catharines.

This media coverage helps share the importance of the Niagara Indigenous Trail Sign initiative with a wider audience and supports ongoing community education about Indigenous history, Indigenous trails, and the deep connections Indigenous Peoples have with the Niagara landscape.

The unveiling of the first Niagara Indigenous Trail Sign is an important milestone for Niagara Geopark. Many of the roads we travel today follow routes that were, and still are, Indigenous trails walked for thousands of years. These pathways carry stories of movement, trade, knowledge, connection, and relationship with the land.

Sharing these stories matters. It helps residents and visitors better understand the ongoing presence, stewardship, and impact of Indigenous communities in Niagara and the ways Indigenous connections continue to shape our day-to-day lives.

We are grateful to CBC Niagara and The St. Catharines Standard for helping highlight this important work, the partnerships behind it, and Niagara Geopark’s commitment to respectful storytelling, place-based learning, and community education.
