What is the Niagara Geopark?
Niagara is more than a breathtaking destination. It is a place shaped by ancient seas, powerful ice, rushing water, living cultures, and the choices communities make today. Millions come for the Falls, but the deeper story of Niagara stretches across escarpments, gorges, wetlands, orchards, waterways, and communities connected by land and memory.
From the towering cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment to the world-famous power of Niagara Falls, every part of this region reveals another layer of Earth history and human experience. Here, geology is not a backdrop. It is the foundation of culture, agriculture, biodiversity, settlement, and stewardship.
Our Mission Statement in 3 Indigenous Languages
Our mission statement is also shared in Indigenous languages as a reminder that Niagara’s story must be told with respect, relationship, and care. Indigenous interpretation support has been provided through local Indigenous partners and knowledge holders, helping make these messages more accessible to those who live, work, and explore across the region.
