Niagara Geopark Launches New Website and Friends of the Geopark Fundraising Program

Niagara Geopark has launched a new website and Friends of the Geopark fundraising program to support its growing education, outreach, and stewardship work as the organization continues its path toward UNESCO Global Geopark designation.

The new website, available at www.niagarageopark.com, gives Niagara Geopark a stronger digital home and a clearer way to share its work across Niagara and beyond. Built around three pathways – Engage, Educate, and Explore – the site connects residents, students, visitors, educators, partners, and donors to Niagara’s geosites, education programs, events, online learning, and community stories.

As an education-focused not-for-profit and registered charity, Niagara Geopark helps turn the Niagara Peninsula into a living classroom. Its expanded programming includes the Niagara Geopark Learning Hub, GeoClub for Kids, the Geopark Speaker Series, Culture Crawl, geosite interpretation, and place-based storytelling across all 12 Niagara municipalities.

“The new website gives Niagara Geopark a stronger platform to share who we are, what we do, and why this work matters,” said Perry Hartwick, P.Geo., Niagara Geopark Board Chair. “As we continue on the path toward UNESCO Global Geopark designation, it is important that residents, students, visitors, educators, partners, and donors can easily see how they can be part of Niagara’s future.”

The Niagara Geopark also announced the launch of the new Friends of the Geopark fundraising program, which invites individuals, families, businesses, and community supporters to make a $50 donation (or more) to help grow Niagara Geopark’s education, interpretation, youth programming, public talks, community events, Indigenous and cultural storytelling initiatives, and geosite stewardship.

“We’ve had a lot of people ask how they can be a part of Niagara Geopark,” explained Hartwick. “Many global geoparks have similar Friends of the Geopark programs, and we felt this was a natural next step to encourage people to become a Friend of the Geopark and with a small donation, be a part of our growth as a community-based organization in Niagara”
