The Niagara Geopark Trail Network is a major initiative designed to help people explore Niagara in a more connected, meaningful way. This evolving digital platform will link trails, geosites, cultural landmarks, communities, and visitor destinations across the region, making it easier for residents and visitors to discover the many layers of Niagara’s story.
Led by Niagara Geopark, the platform is being developed as a curated, map-based tool that will offer interactive exploration, personalized recommendations, and custom itineraries based on interests such as hiking, culture, education, and local discovery. It will also feature updated content, events, and partner information to help users build experiences that connect digital discovery with time on the land.
More than a trail-finding tool, the Niagara Geopark Trail Network is being created as a regional storytelling and interpretation platform. It is designed to connect geological heritage with Indigenous knowledge, cultural history, stewardship, and sustainable tourism—helping people better understand Niagara as one interconnected landscape.
This project also creates new opportunities for collaboration across the region. By connecting all 12 Niagara municipalities through trails, place-based storytelling, tourism, and local discovery, the Trail Network will support residents, visitors, tourism organizations, local businesses, conservation partners, cultural institutions, and Indigenous partners alike.
As it grows, the Niagara Geopark Trail Network will help strengthen regional identity, improve access to nature and heritage, support sustainable tourism, and encourage people to explore Niagara with greater understanding, care, and connection.
Niagara Geopark gratefully acknowledges the support of the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) in helping advance this important initiative.
